Meet Our New Spring Intern Samy!

Welcome Samy Ahmed to the CommCore team. Samy is currently a graduate student at American University. Learn more about him below.

Three words you would use to describe yourself…

Ambitious, Brilliant, Cheerful. ABC: This is the secret formula that marks my personality!

What are you most passionate about…

Choosing only one can be really hard. I think my biggest passion is trying to get myself involved in as many things as possible. I am a serious globe-trotter and when I settle down somewhere, I try my best to meet new people and discover new places. I hate letting time go to waste. If someone were to offer me to spend a Sunday afternoon on a couch watching TV or going out to advocate global warming, I would definitely accept the second option.  As my mother says “I can’t sit on the same chair for more than two seconds without doing anything,” I got this incredible quality directly from her — she’s  my role model.

Why intern for CommCore

Why not? Is the real question. I truly believe that the majority of the problems we face in our daily life stem from a lack of communication. We tend to understimate the power of what we say and how words can affect people’s life. Moreover, it’s not without reason that CommCore has been included in the New York Observer’s 2017 PR Power 50. Being an intern here is a unique opportunity for me to get hands-on experience with communication strategy plans and crisis management tactics, which multinational corporations, government agencies and international organizations should carry out in difficult situations. Lastly, the strategically headquartered office in Washingtong, DC provides the great benefit to mix and mingle with policy makers, business analysts, and foreign-service officers. CommCore is the opportunity of a lifetime!

What’s your favorite social media channel…

Although someone could argue that Facebook is becoming a walking dead zombie, I will always be one of its closest and loyal supporters. Since its creation, Facebook has always been a powerful tool to connect and communicate with people who are not right next us. I use it every single day and it helps me a lot to stay in contact with friends, family, colleagues and even employers that are far away. One social media, countless uses! Laslty, scrolling through my feed while I am drinking a hot cup of coffee has no price, especially on Monday mornings when I need to collect all of the energy I can to kick-start the week!

What do you hope to get involved with the most at CommCore…

I hope to get involved in a challenging long-term project for a governmental agency here in Washington, DC. This would be a really interesting work setting where the boundaries between public and private often fade.
